The puppy upon visual inspection of the buyer appears to be in overall good health and has no existing health concerns to the Seller. Buyer (initial) ________ Seller (initial)_________
The Buyer has three (3) business days to have the puppy examined by a veterinarian. If the puppy is found to be in unsatisfactory health thru no fault of buyer(s) at that time, the puppy may be returned. A full refund of purchase price will be made. Transportation costs for the return of the puppy are the buyer's responsibility.
The purchased puppy carries a 28 month hip and eye guarantee. This covers any hip or eye genetic problems that prevent the puppy from being certified by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) or the Canine Eye Registration Foundation, Inc. (CERF). Hips/elbows must be x-rayed by a veterinarian according to OFA guidelines and the films submitted to the OFA. Eyes must be examined and certified by a Board Certified Canine Ophthalmologist by the time the dog reaches 28 months of age. This guarantee policy covers a refund of the purchase price of the puppy. The buyer will be required to spay or neuter the dog if not returned to Down River Retrievers. Any and all other expenses, including but not limited to, veterinarian fees, testing fees, medical expenses or transportation are not covered by the guarantee nor eligible for refund.
For the future protection of the breed, all dogs will go home with an AKC “Limited” registration. The Seller agrees to lift the limited registration after the buyer successfully demonstrates their dog has achieved an OFA hip rating of “Good” or “Excellent”. Dogs rated below good but still certified acceptable by OFA will not have their AKC registration lifted and are not subject to a return or refund under this guarantee.
Conditions of Health Guarantee
1. Health issues affecting hips and eyes must be related to genetic defects only. The dog must not be overweight, or have suffered trauma from accident, neglect or exercise. Dog must be receiving proper health care and nutrition.
2. The dog must be owned by the original owner.
3. A female dog must not be examined within 2 months of her heat cycle, and may not have been bred.
4. Microchip placement must be validated by your veterinarian and the microchip identification number MUST appear on all the documents or certifications.
5. Buyer(s) must immediately contact seller by phone or email for consultation before any test results are submitted to the respected Foundations.
6. If a problem is indicated before the 28th month stated here within, buyer must have OFA evaluate and send a copy of the findings or a copy of the CERF evaluation by a Board Certified Canine Ophthalmologist to the seller.
7. In the event that a diagnosis of a genetic defect appears questionable, a second opinion from a veterinarian approved by seller will be the determining factor (buyer to pay costs).
8. If the dog must be surrendered for any reason, the buyer must return the dog to Down River Retrievers.
Down River Retrievers will place the dog in a home. (There will be no refund to the buyer.)
